Welcome to Riad Charai
Once the residence of the Charai Family and the property of the Private Secretary to the famous Pasha Glaoui, this lovely Riad boasts a larger than average floor area (1.730 sq. m.), giving it a spacious and airy feel.
It has been beautifully and elegantly restored by Rocco Forte designer, Carine Mavroleon, in true ‘Nouveaux Moroccan’ style using traditional local materials and craftsmanship, but with a contemporary and minimalist twist that sets it apart. Part of the furniture is original Art Deco furniture from the famous Mamounia hotel, including the bar stools from the ‘Churchill bar’.
The Riad Charai is an “Oasis in the Medina” that contrasts vividly with the ceaseless activity of the surrounding souks. Its innate tranquillity is enriched by the sounds of birdsong from the adjacent palm grove and the custom ‘Soundscape design’ by Famous Brazilian DJ Monica Soldan. Her music has been specially designed for each space in the Riad and is very contemporary flavoured with local Arabesque and African sounds.
